It's Time To Talk About Evy's Tree
Let's analyze the rise and fall of a beloved homegrown multi million dollar business.
Way back in the beginning…
In 2010 I put a post out on my family blog about some handmade hoodies I had designed and gave away as gifts to my family during Christmas 2009.
I asked what people thought about them… the response was huge to me… my little tiny blog had never seen so much traffic, or so I thought. Seems more people read it than I realized! That post brought in 181 comments! Seemed everyone agreed, they loved them and wanted to buy one. I put a paypal link up on my blog on January 9, 2010, and sold 15 hoodies in 30 mins.
And that was the beginning of Evy’s Tree.
How did all this happen? How did such a business come about and how did it collapse?
This is what I will unpack. It’s going to take me a while, and we’ll go back and forth between me and my personal life, as well as the business. Because you can’t have one, without the other…they were very much tandem, especially during the being of the journey. I’ll also share the tactics that I took to help growth and some of the mistakes I made to get us to where we ended up.
I’m not sure how long this series will go. I’m just going to take my time and tell little bits and pieces of the story as I can. Covering 13 years of time can take a while.
As always, the most private posts will be gated.
Much of Evy’s Tree is very personal and is connected to my family, my husband and my kids. Because of this, most of this series will be for paid subscribers only. This is a protection for my family…As I mentioned before, I suppose I feel if you are willing to pay for what you read, you’ll hold it carefully and be kind.
